In the current context of a pandemic, and thinking about the transformation of cities and the consequences in the post-Covid period, we wanted to focus on the results of each of the rankings as of 2019, in order to see the global evolution and, specifically, that of Barcelona. This is a list of cities in the world by gross domestic product (GDP).The United Nations uses three definitions for what constitutes a city, as not all cities may be classified using the same criteria.
Only rankings that classify cities have been selected, discarding those where Barcelona is still not top-ranked by the institution that establishes the index. GDP of the ten largest metropolitan economies in the OECD, 20012018. In order to locate each of the rankings according to a subject, a distribution has been made by key areas of development: Culture, Sports and Creativity, Research and Knowledge, Entrepreneurship and Competitiveness, Talent, Urban Quality, Tourism, City Brand and Global Cities and Future Projection. We have worked to identify, visualize and monitor these rankings with the aim of improving the positioning of the city and make it more attractive to talent.
